The Chair

Yesterday I wrote about the chair that was being thrown out that I managed to keep.

I am somehow very attached to it, kind of like it’s a pet, I did mention that it had become a part of the family but I doubt that hubby and the kids feel the same way, it is after all just a chair.

I wanted to show you the photos of the beautiful chair, (well I think it’s lovely)and with thanks to technology and the fact that I have to drive a good fifteen minutes to the library book in on the computer just to access the internet I wasn’t able to upload the pictures yesterday.

Tadah!

I think the reason I like it so much is maybe more the potential that it has, it would have been a gorgeous chair in its day, gee I’m making it sound old I hope it doesn’t get a complex, now I’m being ridiculous, a chair with a complex. Let’s Stop before I embarrass myself.

I’ve had the chair a while now and I would say it is close to probably two years now since I salvaged it from the rubbish collection and I guess I have been scared because it is such a beautiful chair that I don’t want to destroy it, problem is I don’t know how to restore it, normally one would sand it back and give it a coat of varnish but the detail on it concerns me and I wonder if I am out of my depth, another is if it’s an antique (I doubt it is) that if I do anything to it that I destroy its authenticity.

Note the detail on the leg.

So at some stage when I gather up the courage and time I will give my hand a go at polishing the chair up – wish me luck!

I’m going home to write now and perhaps do some washing and give the floors a vac, and of course let’s not neglect the dishes.

Til next time

Motivated by Spring

Its amazing what spring does when it arrives and yes I know that while the calendar says that spring is not here yet nature obviously isn’t aware, the days have been gloriously sunny while the nights are quite cool.
What I’m talking about is the spring clean and getting into the garden and I can only speak for myself when I say that over winter I hibernated curled up inside with the computer or a good book and a cup of coffee but when the sun shines for days on end I tend to venture outside and marvel at the disrepair that my garden has become with the overgrown weeds, the dead plants, may they rest in peace and the hanging pots outside on my verandah that once had glorious colour emanating from them are now bare with soil their only companion.

So the weekend or Sunday mainly, Saturday was filled with running around and playing taxi for the day, I venture firstly out onto the verandah and looked at the bistro blind that had been purchased some time ago and asked hubby to put it up, which of course started a chain reaction, the corner of the verandah that over time collected old pots, dust, leaves and cobwebs required to be cleaned up so that he would have access to the spot that I wanted the blind put up.
I started reorganising and shifting things for room, the poor straggly palm that was so neglected over winter it almost died, shame on me, the mini wheelbarrow made by my husbands uncle, and an old rickety chair, but I fell in love all over again with the chair.

Of course there is a story with this chair, every now and then the local council holds a curbside collection and I was talking to my neighbour who was loading up the trailer with stuff and junk and a cane chair.
“Are you moving?” I asked
“No just taking this lot out for hard rubbish."
“Really, that chair?”
“Did you want it?” they replied
“Well if you are only going to throw it out.”

And so the chair became a part of the family and I fell in love with it.
Granted it was a little worse for wear but with a little TLC I thought that it would come up a gem.

And so it sat in the corner on the verandah waiting for yours truly to give it that TLC it desperately needed, around it and under it gathered all those above that I spoke of and on Sunday I renewed my vigor to clean it up and have it looking hopefully next to new.

As I didn’t have the tools on Sunday that I needed to begin that task, (I wonder how long it will be before I complete that task) I thought I would finish the project that I started a year ago of laying pavers in a little area of my garden that soaks up beautiful afternoon sun.

I am pleased to report that I did indeed finish the paving and then the mind starts ticking over with the other things that can be done now that one area of an ugly part of the garden has been beautified.
Words from my husband “You’re dangerous when you come outside, I think you better go back in.” Ha Ha, no chance.

Well it was a good weekend and very productive. I wrote a lot, read a lot, did my family deed for all and finished my paving project, but sadly the housework became neglected, any one willing to come on by to clean my house???

Spring Blossom Photos

The blossoms and flowers are well and truly out now and they are gorgeous.

This photo I took just outside my house, now the blossoms have all gone away, not quite sure what these one's are but when the whole tree is in bloom it looks lovely.

The Jonquils and Daffodils are out the magnolia's are out as well and they look magnificent, one that caught my attention was a pure white magnolia in the front garden of someone's house.

Magnolias look absolutely lovely and I would have liked to have taken some photos of the magnolia's that are out but I didn't.

This photo of the blossom I took at my children's school and according to the principal it is a Flowering Quince or Japonica.

Either way it is a beautiful flower.

This week I finished a short story I have been composing and when the internet is up and running, lets not hold our breath here, I will be posting that on my blog chapter by chapter.

I hope that it will be next week, but then I was hoping last week that it would be this week.

Perhaps my patience is being tested.

Finding my feet

Hi, Im back at the library and while I was going to upload those photos I forgot the stick on which the photos are on. Doh!
So i thought i would try and work my way around the blogging world and try and see how it all works.
There are some really great and funny blog sites out there some created purely for fun and some created for their own family to enjoy. There are those that are beutiful and some who are creative genius's.

Then of course there is my blog that simply tells you that I am not doing much at all while trying to do a lot, kind of like the two steps forward one step back only lately it feels like I have taken one step forward and five steps back.

I have nearly finished writing the short story that I started nearly two months ago now, and while I say it is nearly finished if i stopped playing the new games on the new computer I could probably be telling you that I have actually finished writing it. I guess I'm waiting for the addiction to the games to wear off.

Its Friday and the weekend is near, this means that until Tuesday the library will be closed and I wont be able to access the internet unless the heavens bestow upon me and get my internet up and working.

I can only pray.

Until next time

Children and Karate

Last night I took my eldest son to Karate as he wanted to join.

I must say I was really impressed at how much he enjoyed it, even the starjumps and the running around the room to warm up he enjoyed.

I hope he sticks with it as I find there are a lot more benefits to Karate other than self defence, I think it will do him a lot of good.

My youngest son came along and at first he was all for wanting to learn but his anxiety levels rose before we even headed out the door and said that he would just watch. At the end of the evening he said that next week he would like to give it a go. Fingers crossed.

Today I am back at the library still waiting for the technicians to find out why I can't hook up to the internet, who would have thought 48 - 72 hours response time would be so long.

Have a great weekend

Still Waiting

Yes I am still waiting for the internet and once again I am back at the library.

I thought it would be a lot easier and perhaps it is easy but for some reason it seems my patience is to be tested.

I have a modem issue and am currently waiting for technical team to sort it out, in the mean time I continue to write and play a whole array of new games on the new computer. Some are quite addictive.

Hopefully soon it will all be up and running and you will be able to see and read what I have written.

til then

Technology

Since my last blog my internet failed and then my computer decided it had come to the end of its life.

Argh!! Viruses had infected my computer, what was a person to do?

First was sheer panic and then I went through withdrawal symptoms I couldnt write, I couldn't look at facebook and couldnt blog.

I had committed myself to this blog and then it all went south I was right into writing a new story and then it all crashed.

Two weeks it took for the computer man to tell me that my computer was heavily infected and the hard drive was on the way out. Disaster!

Buying a new computer I thought my problems were over but not being technologically savvy I am yet to hook it up to the internet having to get a new provider is like a nightmare.

Two days I spent trying to retrieve data from the old computer including photos and all of my work. I now (thank goodness) have my photos and stories and am now sitting at the local library using their internet to blog. Ah if I had of thought of it earlier I wouldnt have gone through so much withdrawal pain.

Isnt it awful that we rely so heavily on computers and technology, of course it has taught me one thing. BACK UP!!!!!

So thank goodness for the local library, what a godsend!

On a bright note I have a new computer and I will be back on track shortly what a learning curb.

These things are sent to try us.

Til the next time
